Eyeballing vs. Accuracy & Measurements

 

Why measure your breasts? Can't an experienced, artistic surgeon just
"eyeball" and determine what you need?

No matter how many thousands of breasts a plastic surgeon has examined,
no surgeon can be as accurate "eyeballing" your breasts compared
to precisely measuring your breasts.

It's very easy to fool even the most experienced eye-we do it all the
time in courses that we teach to surgeons! A caliper and tape measure give
us precise measurements that are far more accurate than simply looking at
your breasts.

No woman has two breasts that are the same. Small differences are
normal, and many go unnoticed without measurements.

No surgeon can ever make two breasts exactly match, but adjustments
are more accurate using precise measurements compared to "eyeballing"!

A surgeon can only work with the tissues that you bring the surgeon to
work with! Without measurements, how can the surgeon know precisely what
you're bringing to work with? The answer is, the surgeon can't-at least
not as accurately as if the surgeon measured your breasts!

Measurements of your breasts tell a surgeon precisely how much skin
you have to work with, and help the surgeon know how much that skin
was stretched if you've been pregnant.

Measurements can tell a surgeon how much implant is required for the
best aesthetic result, and how much implant might cause problems long
term.

Measurements can tell a surgeon what your tissues will allow you to have
without unduly stressing your tissues, and what is necessary to adequately
fill the skin envelope of your breast for an optimal result!

When you have an examination by a surgeon, notice how precisely the surgeon
measures your breasts, how detailed the records are that the surgeon uses,
and how thoroughly the surgeon explains to you what the measurements mean
in terms of your options and the tradeoffs of those options.

Measuring the thickness of your tissues, especially in the
upper breast, tells us whether you have options of placing your implant
over the muscle as well as under the muscle.

If your tissues are thick enough to cover the upper implant without risking
a visible upper edge of the implant, we can offer you the options of over
the muscle. If you tissues are too thin by measurement, you would see the
edge of an implant if it were placed over the muscle, so placing the implant
under the muscle is preferable
